DFT Monster Match

Third grade students are participating in a videoconference to compare “monsters” they created from each others’ class descriptions. Each group created a monster from construction paper. They measured the bodies, appendages and facial details and wrote descriptions of their monsters. They were then tasked with recreating each other’s monsters from the descriptions they received from the other classes and then seeing how close they came by showing their monsters in a videoconference. It was a great exercise in descriptive and procedural writing as well as math practice. And they got to use technology to communicate as well!
